Built in 1895 by Slidell founder Fritz Salmen, the mansion once hosted the “wedding of the century”
uniting Fritz’s daughter, Ellarose Salmen, with Colonel W.H. Sullivan. The wedding, attended by more
than 4,000 guests, garnered national media attention. The house has since been restored to its historical
grandeur. It consists of nine main rooms full of antique furniture and a wonderful front porch that’s the
perfect accessory for bridal photographs.
